Perform work involving the operation of specialized equipment utilized during the construction of municipal water distribution and wastewater projects.  Prior municipal utility water and wastewater construction or maintenance is highly desirable.  May at times be required to operate heavy equipment such as boring rigs, track excavators, wheel type ditching machines, motor graders, front end loaders and backhoes.  A backhoe operator with proven experience digging over existing utilities is a basic job requirement.  Depending upon a candidate's work record and stated experience an actual display of backhoe operating skill at a job site may be required prior to consideration for employment.

A current CDL and Medical Card preferred but not absolutely required for initial hiring.  But, obtaining a CDL license and current medical will be a job requirement within 120 days after employment. 








1. Performs basic, routine work using clearly prescribed procedures.  Seeks advice and guidance for any deviations from the norm.

2. Assists in the installation, testing and maintenance of municipal utility systems. 

3. Completes and maintains accurate records and reports to comply with Company and regulatory requirements.




1. May be required to hold stand-by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call outs, and extended hours. 

2. Is subject to reporting outside regular work area on a regular basis.

3. Is responsible for the safe operation and inspection of assigned Company vehicles and equipment.

4. Demonstrates support for and adheres to the Company's values, strategies, policies and procedures and learns the core values of Customer Service, Safety and the Company's Code of Conduct both as an individual contributor, team member and/or leader of others.

5. Must become familiar with the contents of the Safety Manual, live by the spirit of its intent and become involved in creating and maintaining a safe working environment.  Must complete all required safety training.




Educational/Experience Level:


Requires a general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).


Requires valid driver's license in accordance with Company standards.  A candidate with a CDL License and a current medical certification is preferred however, not mandatory for employment.  However; a successful applicant must obtain a valid CDL License and medical within the first 120 days of employment.


A candidate with a current Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class D Water Operator license is preferred however, not necessarily a mandatory hiring requirement.  However, it is expected that a successful candidate will actively and willingly participate in a company sponsored program to qualify for a TCEQ Class D Water Operator License.


Requires ability to utilize the Company's internet/intranet web site and available resources for data entry, reference and/or retrieval tasks.


Requires the ability to communicate with internal/external customers in order to obtain and/or provide basic types of factual information.


Works outdoors in all types of weather and may be exposed to extremes of climate and temperatures, high noise levels, rough terrain and have the physical capability to work in difficult weather conditions.


This position will require overnight travel and the ability and willingness to work out of town for extended periods of time.


Works as an individual contributor and/or as member of a team.


Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.


Requires acute sense of sight and hearing (corrected or uncorrected) and strong sense of smell.

The job requires repetitive movement of both feet.

Simple grasping with both hands is necessary.

  Fine manipulation with both hands is necessary.

Firm grasping with both hands is necessary.

Requires being around moving machinery Exposure to marked changes in temperature/humidity.

Driving automotive equipment. Exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.


Must be able to lift tools, equipment and materials up to and including 50 pounds.


As a Safety-Sensitive position, pre and post-employment screenings, including but not limited to drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks are required.
